{"id":930,"date":"2013-01-06T12:35:46","date_gmt":"2013-01-06T12:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/collaboriscom.wpengine.com\/?p=930"},"modified":"2022-02-16T11:35:57","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T11:35:57","slug":"docread-now-forces-users-to-read-and-download-a-document-before-confirmation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/docread-now-forces-users-to-read-and-download-a-document-before-confirmation\/","title":{"rendered":"DocRead now forces users to \u201cread\u201d and download a document before confirmation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>DocRead for SharePoint is the only\u00a0<a href=\"\/products\/docread\/\">policy management software<\/a>\u00a0that integrates straight into SharePoint and allows compliance professionals to distribute and track their policies and procedures.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As requested by the majority of our customers, we are proud to announce that DocRead 1.2 now has the ability to force users to &#8220;download&#8221; a document before they can confirm and agree to the terms.<\/p>\n<h2>How does it work ?<\/h2>\n<p>We have tried to keep it is as simple as possible for the end-user. Now, when a user arrives at the confirmation tab (accessible from a DocRead web part, document library, or a link in an email) &#8211; they are now &#8216;forced&#8217; to click on &#8216;view document&#8217; before being able to confirm. This enables us to ensure that the user not only opened the document, but was able to access the document at the time of confirmation. <strong>If you are using DocRead for compliance purposes as many of you are, then we strongly recommend you do use this functionality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-931 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force2.png\" alt=\"force2\" width=\"601\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force2.png 601w, https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force2-300x227.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, on some sites you may just want to use DocRead for recommended reading, or may just not require this functionality. Due to this, we made it configurable so you can turn it &#8220;on&#8221; or &#8220;off&#8221; as you so wish.<\/p>\n<h3>Force View Document &#8211; Central Admin<\/h3>\n<p>There&#8217;s now a new setting in Central Admin that acts as the global default. This means if you place web parts throughout\u00a0your sites (and don&#8217;t activate the DocRead site features), then this setting instructs DocRead whether to force the user or not.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force-view-document-setting-in-central-admin.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933\" src=\"https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force-view-document-setting-in-central-admin.png\" alt=\"force-view-document-setting-in-central-admin\" width=\"600\" height=\"67\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force-view-document-setting-in-central-admin.png 600w, https:\/\/www.collaboris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/force-view-document-setting-in-central-admin-300x34.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Force View Document &#8211; Site level<\/h3>\n<p>Lastly, as referred to above, the setting at Central Admin can be overridden at the site level.
